The world of recruiting is always evolving and becoming more and more competitive. It is the job of the recruiter to stay ahead of the game and source the best candidates. In today's social media savvy world the amount of sourcing done over social media has reached new heights. 


The Facts:

94% of companies are using social media to source and recruit candidates
14.4 million job seekers have used social media to find a job
73% of companies successfully hired a candidate with social media

The facts don't lie and if you're not in the social media game then you are falling behind. The one mistake that recruiters tend to make is by sticking to only LinkedIn when sourcing for candidates. According to Job Cast, 93% of companies use LinkedIn for recruiter when only about 36% of job seekers are active on LinkedIn. When you compare that number to Twitter and Facebook you see a huge difference.

66% of recruiters use Facebook and 54% use Twitter while 40% of job seekers are active on Twitter and over 83% are active on Facebook. That's a huge number!

So how do you use social media to recruit candidates and why is it important?

1. Stop using only LinkedIn! As you have seen an overwhelming number of job seekers are using Facebook today compared to LinkedIn. You can easily source for candidates using any social network, but the facts say to go with Facebook. We're not saying LinkedIn isn't the top recruiting tool we're just saying it isn't your only option.

2. Boolean Search. Sometimes it can be difficult to find the right candidates just by doing a simple search. That is why using a Boolean search is your best bet. You can customize it and add in keywords to source the right candidate.

3. Be different. One of the ways our company stands out on social media is by creating individual job posters to post on the different networks. We customize it to fit the job title and skills needed. This provides a new and refreshing post to attract job seekers. Canva is a great tool for this.

4. Social profiles offer an insights about candidates. Not only can we see their job history, we can also see their interests, what they post and just about everything. This gives us a good idea into what a candidate is like and if they will fit the culture of the position you are recruiting them for.

5. Social recruiting isn't going anywhere. Social media is only going up and the need for recruiting is going with it. Social recruiting increases quality and quantity of a candidates.


The best social recruiters use images, relevant content, hashtags, and videos to drive engagement to their jobs and companies social profiles.
